Position: Process Engineer

Reporting to: Process Manager

Location: Tanga

Key responsibility

• Responsible for providing process technical services to major processes (i.e. crushers, kilns, mills, and packers) to optimise cost, production rate and meet market expectations with product quality, within sustained optimal risk profiles. Utilise own, contractor’s and outside specialist’s knowledge to achieve the objectives of operation.

Principal Accountabilities

• Perform specialist process audit and checks.
• Provide specialist process engineering services, including tests, analysis, investigations and reporting for the operation to optimise production and cement process for raw mills, kilns, coal mills, Cement mills and crushing plant.
• Contribute to production planning and  strategy; Contribute towards the production  strategies, planning and execution, including shell relining, fuel mix and emission control, to meet market and stockholding production targets.
• Monitor production data and statistics to identify problematic trends and isolate problems before they occur, Improvement in productivity and time run factor and production factor, Highlight about the influence of the quality parameters with operating parameters.
• Improve electrical energy and thermal energy consumptions of the plant; decrease production cost of Cement.
• Initiate and lead continuous improvement activities; Initiate, lead and execute cost saving initiatives, fuel efficiency and production rate improvement programmes, could also be expected to lead learner development programmes.
• Ultimate responsible for safe working practices especially at areas of responsibility.
• Environment: Ensure environmental procedures are complied with, identify, and manage the environmental aspects and impacts in his/her area and instil environmental awareness culture in his/her area.
• Any other duties as may be assigned

Education

• BSc Engineering majoring in Chemical and Processing.
• Registered with the Engineering Board of Tanzania (ERB)

Knowledge and Specific Experience

• Minimum 3 years process engineering experience in cement or equivalent industry.
• Expert understanding of process, maintenance, and production strategies
• Maintenance and trouble shooting skills.
• Planning and organising skills.
• Problem solving skills.
• Sound computer and MS Office skills.
• Knowledge of cement plant equipment, including operating systems to do proper plant over-inspection and fault finding.
